Borealis Grille & Bar, Kitchener, Ontario

Borealis Bar and Grille, Borealis, Borealis Kitchener, Borealis Guelph, Canadian cuisine, Ontario local food, Woolwich ArrowIt may be the Flying Monkey Hoptical Illusion…or one of the other 18 beers/ales on tap at the new Kitchener location of Borealis.  Or it may be the Barrie Brothers asparagus-corn chips with house made salsa or my absolute Borealis favourite, their BBQ’d pulled pork sandwich. But after only a week of unlocking the doors for business, there are a whole cadre of ‘regulars’. And that was even before the grand opening.

Borealis Grille & Bar is a place which is in the words of it’s originator Bob Desautels, ‘radically local’. Green power, local building materials and huge, life sized portraits of the farmers who put the food into the kitchen so that the hard-working chefs can serve it forth. From the dry roasted pork ribs to the sweet potato curry, the entire restaurant concept is based on A Taste of Ontario. It’s approachable, casual, honest and fun.

Borealis Grille & Bar will be celebrating Food Day Canada at it’s three other locations, Borealis (Guelph) , Miijidaa, the Wooly Pub, and The Park Eatery all in Guelph.
